I've used B&W, Pullrite, Curt, and Hensley fifth wheel hitches. I preferred them in that order and of them all, was most disappoined with the B&W for all of the hype it has.

I theorize that due to good marketing, you have a lot of people buy B&W, never use anything else, and thus have no idea that there are better options. Those people recommend them because that's what they have, so the recommendations are a matter of marketing and market share. A lot of people buy them because they're made in America, which is a valid reason to go that route but has nothing to do with the functionality.

If you are stuck on the idea of a fixed fifth wheel hitch, definitely check out the TrailerSaver BD3. Otherwise consider a Reese Goosebox V2. There is nothing inherently wrong with B&W, but it's nothing special.

We had a B&W and it was a great hitch. I was about to switch to a Trailer Saver BD3 but we sold the 5’er and bought a motorhome. Nothing wrong with the B&W, but you can’t beat the air ride of a BD3 even with an airbag pinbox.

The BD3 is expensive, but if we go back to a 5’er that will be hitch I buy.
