rear view camera hook up?

I am installing a rear view camera in place of my top center clearance light on my 5th wheel.
By using the wires fromn the clearance light how do I hook up my camera.
There are 2 wires on the camera red and black. One for 12 v and one for the ground.
There are 2 wires (black) to the clearance light.
Do I pigtail the 2 black clearance light to the hot camera wire and ground the camera wire to the frame or connect each of the camera wires tro each of the clearance light wires?

The first thing you need to do is get a volt meter and find out if they are negative ground or if they are pos & neg. Don't hook anything up till you know this or you could damage the camera.

Seems to me that if you use the clearance light wires to power the camera that you'd need to have the lights on when you want to use the camera.

That's correct.
I usually travel with my clearance lights on.

Talking

I just got my new camera today I plan on hooking mine up to the reverse lights. The magellan GPS has a video in and when it senses power it will switch to the camera.
Now I just need to run 40-50 feet of wire
