Replace or repair toilet

This 2006 holiday rambler fifth wheel I bought the toilet seems to be not shutting off, it’s not in bad shape, but I’m thinking it’s pretty old possibly original to the trailer

It is a thetford aqua magic style light

Not really wanting to add more stuff to the landfill so I’m not against replacing all the parts and seals if someone sells a kit that does everything

But I am super paranoid about these things not shutting off and flooding the trailer

Do you think I should replace it with a new one or rebuild this one?

What do you guys think would be most reliable long-term, I looked at that $300 dometic and I guess as long as it matches up easy if could do that

For me a no brainer. Replace. Why would you try to keep a 16/year old toilet going? I replaced mine on current rig before it was ever used with a taller model. Much easier to get up from. Do what makes you comfortable.

Take care.
Enjoy the journey

Replacement could be easier than finding repair parts.
Before replacement, measure and make sure it will fit in the spot without needing any modifications to the plumbing system.

Replaced my toilet with a Dometic 310 with hand sprayer one month after buying a new trailer (hated the plastic Dometic 300). Replacing is an easier DIY than repairing, and you get a new warranty. 1 hour job. Loving the hand sprayer. The Dometic 320 is also available with sprayer.

I repaired the 2006 Aqua Magic toilet in ours 2 years ago. Same issue, was leaking sometimes in very cold weather. New valve kit, maybe 30$ or so ? I removed the toilet for easier access and put a new base gasket (foam). It's an hour job tops with deep cleaning and powerwashing the toilet innards.

Ours is already the "tall" model. I saw no need to pay $$$ for a new toilet.

If you have a ceramic bowl, fix it. Lots of uTubes on how to do the job. Buy the parts from eBay not a stealer

Great info guys, think this one is ceramic, I’ve barely looked at it. I just noticed the other day that it was going to overflow when I was working on the water pump

will do more research and make a decision in the next few days, it’s way down the list and the trailer won’t be used until spring so I’m just starting on projects.

Thanks for the feedback

I think you should fix it. You could replace ALL the replaceable parts in the toilet for much less than the price of a new one and it will operate like new for at least another 15 years.

What model do you have? I have a parts list and a blow up diagram for the 111 and 110 models I can get to you

34064 style lite

I contacted thetford and asked what I needed to purchase to totally refurbish the toilet, and they just sent me the parts list which kind of annoys me enough to make me just want to purchase the dometic 310 lol

Can somebody tell me what parts I need to purchase? It’s weird to me that nobody sells a complete refurbishing kit but I’m not having any luck.

Get a Dometic 310 or 320 same toilet different shape. Ceramic bowl and it flushes all the way around not just a squirt in the back like the Thetford Aqua Magic I.

I tried to repair one of these, spent about $80 on parts. There is a spring under the foot pedal, if it come loose your done, it can not be put back. I called when it happened and was told no way. Like I posted above, I put the Dometic 310 in and will never use the Theford again as the Dometic actually flushes the bowl all the way around not the puny spray in the back of the Aqua Magic II.
