Replacing Ceiling Panels..Suggestions?

Any ideas what chemicals could be used to remove the thin wood that's between the insulation above the ceiling panels and the the rubber roof membrane? Finally getting going (more so) on my ceiling panel replacement. Can use a scraper/putty knife to an extent but I was wondering if anyone knew of something that would be quicker.

Thanks!

Sorry, should've reread my post. I've already removed the ceiling panels & insulation, but there is a thin layer of wood material (not sure what it's called) that was above the insulation..it's glued tot he rubber roof. Some of it I can just peel off by hand, since it's rotten, but much of it is still stuck to the roof. I can try using a putty knife but I don't want to puncture a hole in the roof material.

Thanks!

Your going about this backwards, how much of the roof do you need to replace? Your going to have to peel that roof back and fix the structure, the ceiling panels and ridged foam and the thin wood your seeing is all one part. The roof is glued together and made in to one solid part when you start taking all that apart it gets weak. The roof needs to be resheeted with plywood, how were you going to fix the soft spot under the rubber?

Thank you, & I completely understand what you're saying.

Going to redo it from scratch like you suggest... rebuild the roof framework & like you said, sheet with plywood.

I'll post updates with my progress.
