Road Side Assistance Question

I'd like to know what everyone thinks about the roadside assistance that is available out there and what is the best available , I have not used anything thus far but I know there may be a time I'll be looking at getting it , thanks

We use Good Sam. My daughter and wife have both had incidences, and they were helpful and fast. My favorite thing with them is it’s the drivers that are covered. DW was stuck in central Wyoming when her sister’s car took a dump. They had someone there within 25 minutes.

I had Sam and it worked well until it didnt. They just left us on the side of the road. Luckily it was close enough to home that I was able to get help from a friend. After that incident i moved to Coachnet. Much more professional and caring.

Howdy!

We use Coach Net. Yes it’s more expensive than the others but have had great service from them for years.
I believe you get what you pay for.

I chose Coach-Net after reading some negatives about good Sam. I recently used coach net when one axle was over heating. The first mobile tech adjusted brakes off. After that within a couple hours it was overheating again. They did argue at first saying one mobile tech per”incident” but deleted once I spoke to a manager and explained that if first tech had fixed the problem I wouldn’t be at a rest stop dealing with same problem. I made it 30 miles to the RV Park we were staying at. They sent tech the following morning and pulled hub. He discovered that previous shop that replaced all brakes put a left side back plate on right side. (Another story). I then drove from Nashville to Galveston the back to Fayetteville AR with little to no trailer brakes. Extra careful extra caution and great engine brake in my 2018 F350.

Another Coach Net vote. Seems at least once a year I need road side, 1 trailer tire, two truck flats. A major break down west of Wolf Creek Pass that required the broke down truck & trailer be towed. On three I had to sign a receipt & one the driver said he had been paid before he arrived. The Wolf Creek incident driver est that bill at about $900, truck to shop 5W into an RV park.

I have been looking into the same thing. I have read many horror stories about Good Sam. Great to be a Club Member but road side assistance NO!

I just went from CoachNet to FMCA's program. $74 a year vs over $200 a year.

I have had Coachnet for 10 years. I have used it 4 times and I have never seen a bill. Look at my picture and you will see that a tow is a large ticket item. I don't even question $139 a year. And the first thing they have always asked my is if I'm in a safe place.

Buddy, you really need to get a bigger tow vehicle! That is not going to be able to pull that 5th wheel down the road safely & efficiently!

Not nearly as concerned about pulling as stopping. Plus you can buy those used all day long for less money than a 1 ton dually diesel. And I will never wear it out.

I am leaving FMCA and going back to GS because FMCA raised their membership fee 50% to $75 per year

In the end it does not matter how much the service costs if you are on the side of the road and need them. The last time I was towed it was 140 miles with a stop 7 miles into the trip to drop the 5er. If you look at my truck can you imagine how much a 140 mile tow would cost? I have never seen a bill for towing. I do not even blink when the renewal notice comes. I pay it and know that all my stuff is covered. And I'm a happy camper
