Roof Leak Issue

I just registered for this site and forum, and somehow sent the above post. Not sure how to remove it.
However, the reason I signed up is we are having some serious roof leak issues and have heard this is a common problem on 2019 and 2020 Cedar Creek Hathaways. Ours is the 34ik model and is 37.5 feet long. My wife found a post online somewhere that stated FR has issued a TSB on them, but our dealer said that is false.
Does anyone have any information about the best remedies, or products, or roof repair firms in the Apache Junction area of AZ?
Any information would be appreciated.

It would be annoying to have a rig that is only 5 years old and already has roof leaks. I used to have a 2002 Jayco Kiwi, it developed a roof leak after about 15 years. I used to get up and re-caulk. Then a couple of times I used that rubber paint to go over the entire surface.

Despite my best efforts it still had a minor roof leak the day I sold in in 2022. The new owner was going to re-roof it. At some point a re-roof is the only option.

My old trailer had a flat roof, so water would sit on it. Whenever I wasn't using it I'd raise the front enough to give it a little slope. But it wasn't enough. My new fifth wheel has a good slope on it. Water drains off of it pretty well. Fingers crossed.

Normally roof leaks are from poor caulking around roof penetrations or the roof edge. When's the last time the roof was inspected and maintained?

Check the long skinny bolts holding the AC down. Gasket compresses with time and bolts may need to be snugged up.

If your rig has a roof leak and it has been persistent, you most likely will have rotting roof decking issues. The best solution will be to replace your membrane roof with an RV Flexarmor roof which is a spray on roof similar to a truck's bed liner. It is going to be expensive, but they will do a good job and give you a quality roof that is guaranteed for the life of the trailer, and is transferrable. The finished product is flexible Poly/urethane about 3/16" thick, bright white.

Not everyone can do it. There is an installation site in Prescott plus they are adding a new one in Sun City the first quarter of 2025. I drove 4 hours one way to have mine done. The process takes 3 days. I'm real happy with my roof as I have committed to keeping my trailer for a number of years.

I'm visiting Peoria, AZ right now. 80 degrees and sunny; weather not conducive to thinking about a new roof!

My installer told me much of their business is customers bringing in their brand new rigs from the dealer's lot. Welcome to the forum and sorry you are having problems with your rig.

Roof leaks can become serious problems, and cause wall, floor damage. We had the Flex Armor roof installed in November 2023 in Ft. Myers location. For us, a really great move. It is not cheap, but if you plan on keeping the rig for a long time, for us, worth the effort.

2 things I would do
1st is there is RV tape 4" wide - put down on all seams
2nd is use primer(clear/white glue) on roof and everything coming thru roof
3rd then use EPDM roof coating(elastomeric) around $150 for 5 gallons
coat twice after doing 1 & 2
primer should be around $125 5 gallons
btw I'm in Arizona and it's been 5 years on tape and 3rd year on roof coating

Thank you for your suggestion. I think we are going to have to have it reroofed to aleveiate the constant worries. Jim

I have not been able to get anything from Forest River; they simply give me the run around and do not even call back when they say they will. I think a complete reroof is likely the best answer. Thank you for taking time to send your thoughts.

Hi GPA Jim, nowadays, there are quality coatings out there that don't need a primer and are a one-coat system, you can look at those options if your roof is still in good shape.
