Roof rubber coating - recommended brands?
I've been looking at rubber sealants for the roof of my restoration project, a 1983 Alpenlite. The BEEST coating looks to be a good strong product, what do you all think?
They also recommend their brand (of course) of RV wash and primer coat which I'm hoping I can successfully substitute with maybe a bleach wash and less expensive primer option. What are your experiences with roof preparations and coatings?

Fiberglass or aluminum or rubber roof material. Makes a difference.

I applied Hengs Rubber Roof Coating on my 2006 epdm roof this September.
Hengs can be applied to asphalt shingles, metal, and concrete too.
There's no primer required BUT you must scrub your roof with powdered detergent - either Spic and Span or Tide laundry powder.
After researching coatings a few years ago I wanted to avoid priming and be able to apply a 2nd coat the same day. Hengs can be recoated in 4 hours but I found with days getting shorter in September when I started my 2nd coat effort would have run into the late evening and possible dew so I felt it best to do 1 coat per day.
I cut in with a paint brush and rolled on the rest. Did 95% from the roof and the roof material that went down the sides to the gutter rails from the ladder. i did remove my Maxx Air covers before cutting in around them. BTW ended up replacing 2 of 3 vent covers because they disintegrated when I went to clean them.
3 coats in all. I bought 2 gallons for a 31' motorhome and I have .25 gallon leftover. About $150 for 2 gallons Hengs.
Very happy with the results.
I took a short 400 mile trip a couple weeks afterwards and theres no sign of cracking. Full cure is 24 hours I believe. The coating is flexible. I posted my project on FR forums. Here's a few pictures. Before pictures are last

If I may, there are many coats out there that usually require 2 or 3 coats to achieve a 20-mil film thickness. Nowadays you can get products that are primer-free, one-coat systems that completely waterproof in just 3 hours and will completely cure after 8 - 10 hours of application, and will last 18 - 20 years if applied correctly. You don't want to spend more time doing a task that will give you good results and will take you half the time.

I have used Ames products for many years around the sticks and bricks, and been very happy with the results. From coating the interior of 5K gallon cinder block water tanks to recoating old 3 tab roofs on storage sheds / barns. They also have an rv roof system that I will most likely use when I recoat my rv, due to my past experience with thier products and customer service.

The roof is aluminum with patches of rubber sealant. I'll likely have to remove those patched bits for a good even seal.

With Hengs any loose material has to be removed. If adhered just paint over it

Good points.
I used Hengs. 2 coats are what they infer. Dries to the touch in 1 hour.
I put on 3 coats simply for peace of.mind protection
