Running a cable thru the roof...

Running a cable thru the roof...Any tips or tricks, do's or don'ts on this? This is my first hole in the roof, and it makes me nervous. I've got a weatherproof junction box I'm mounting over it, so that if I need more cables in the future, there's a place for them. I may add a rear camera in the not so distant future.
I'm installing an antenna for my cell booster on my ladder, and running the cable into the rear cabinets.

How thick is the space between exterior roof and interior roof?

Will a standard length drill bit make it thru?

Would it be possible to tap the running lights for power there?

I recently installed a Traveler satellite and had to run the cable through the roof. I used the Winegard roof plate. My cable ran into a closet where other cables went from the ceiling to the basement so I simply drilled from their up through the rubber roof. Ran the cable inside and sealed the roof plate with dicor. No issues so far.
