Smile RV covers

How to shop for one?

What do I need to look for?

We like to use our RV year round so accessibility is important.

Thank you for your insight & experience.

CW advertises RV covers heavily in the fall. If one really wants to take good care of the exterior of their rig, I think they are a good investment. But I personally do not own one as my rig is coming up on 13 years old. I also use it every month of the year so I wouldn't want to mess with putting the cover on & taking it off all the time.

Can you get covers with zippered openings for the door?

Yes. Our ADCO Cover has multiple panels that you an unzip to access different areas. Basically you can access anything on the door side. Just unzip the area you need to access. We have the ADCO with Tyvek roof panel.

We are happy with ours. You have to cover all sharp points including rain gutter spouts, corners, etc. to prevent tearing. We've had our new cover for 2 years now and no issues. We also have average wind speeds in the 20's here in Cincinnati, Ohio.

You can shop for covers on Amazon as well. Determine type of camper (5th wheel, travel trailer, etc.). Then measure from the front corner to the rear corner and purchase a size that matches. You probably won't get an exact size (they usually advertise a range such as 37-40 feet). Buy the one that is closest to your size, but not under your length. So if you are 30 feet, make sure you purchase a cover where 30 falls within the range listed.

Main thing to keep in mind is you want a cover that is breathable and doesn't trap moisture.

I had an Adco Designer like this one:
https://www.rvautoparts.com/Adco-Cov...4aAhtuEALw_wcB
For several years that held up well. I did get some small tears, but they include some patch material that was easy to apply. I was pleased with the cover overall. I upgraded to our new fiver so it wouldn't fit. Sold it last summer. Good product I thought. Like the other post said, it has multiple zippers for access and was easy to install if you read and follow recommendations in the instructions.

When we bought our new to us 5ver from the original owner he gave us a cover from camping world, it was unopened. and it still is. I can'y justify putting it on, we use it to much. But it has a cut out for the door and our 2 slides.
