rv dump tote rhino

My 5th wheel has no rear bumper and I only had a ladder. What is the best way to carry a 'rhino dump tote" Regards

We mount ours on the ladder. My wife made a canvas cover for it. We strap I to the ladder with Ratchet straps I an x pattern and one top to bottom. Funny thing is that we haven't needed it since.

I used to carry my 42 gallon Barker dump tote on my rear ladder
I carried it that way for years. Eventually the ladder supports that attached to the roof broke. I attribute the support failure to carrying the tote on the ladder.
For a one time or occasional use the ladder is OK, but do to my past experience I would not carry the tote on the ladder on a regular basis.

I would suggest you use heavy bungees or rubber straps to mount it to your ladder.
They have a little more "give" or stretch so that the shock delivered to the ladder on a bumpy road is significantly softer. Ratchet straps have no give.

Just my $.02 FWIW

I would carry the tote in the bed of the pick-up truck and secure it in place.

After checking out how the ladder is supported on my Cedar Creek with no bumper, I would not carry anything mounted on the ladder when traveling. The lower mounting hardware is just screwed into the fiberglass rear cap with no backing of the screws other than the fiberglass. Just like being mounted to wall board and expecting this to support some weight as it is being pushed and pulled on. It will fail overtime.

Mine fits well between the 5th wheel hitch and the truck cab.

Truck Bed

I carry the tote in my truck bed...Venture who manufactured by TT recommends you not put anything on the ladder while traveling down the road. The ladder is rated for 250 #'s, but that is a static rating, not dynamic. You might want to check with your brand's tech support group before mounting to ladder

Our tote also is in the truck bed. It goes between the 5th hitch and the front tool chest box.
