I did sort of. Put a 6” piece of chain on latch with snap pin thru it. Clipped safety cable to that. Makes it easier for me to reach. I’d post pic but it says it’s too big. 👍

I was told not to clip it to the hitch * shrug*. Mine gets clipped to the corner bed tie down.

having used five different 5th wheel hitch brands I've found it makes no difference where to attach the cable.

I look for a attach point that won't snag the cable while turning or wind turbulence in the bed won't move it around and get hung on something.

Attach points are endless.

OH! You mean the break-a-way cable.
I use a piece of metal dog run cable attached to one of the tire down points in the rear corner of the bed. I use the piece of cable because my breakaway cable is rather short.

I slide it over the Jaw Locking Handle, keeping it inside the locking pin so it won’t slide off.

That is the correct way to do it. It is done that way so that if the entire hitch fails and pulls out of the truck, the end of the breakaway cable will still be attached to the truck and activate the trailer brakes.

That's the theory.

In practice I cannot ever see that scenario happening.

But with that in mind, I attach mine to an open slot on the base rail.
