Sailun tires S637 235/85R16 up date

Up date....logged two more trips...400 mile trip to MI, in Jun 2016, and now back to FL, another 1200 miles...total miles on my one year old Sailun is 5100 miles...105 psi inflation cold...IR'ed the sidewalls...the hottest reading was 125* with a 82* ambient temp. I know not many miles...just an FYI on my Sailun "G" rated tires on Jayco Designer. all good...

Just put on Sailun S637 17.5" 235/75r and High Spec wheels. Running them at 100psi now. So far no issues.

Our trailer came with Sailun's, picked it up in may, just under 5500 miles and 11 states to date, set at 110 from the factory and haven't had to do a thing, trailer is 16,000#, awesome tires!

The Sailun S637 16" and 17.5" tires have been around for several years in the commercial side on long haul and regional service and hotshot trailers.
The 235/85-16 G at 4080 lbs capacity are a good choice for 7k axles and max loaded 6k axles.

We put a set (5 including spare) of 16" on our past Travel Supreme 16K#. The new owner has kept it rolling too. Said he did a week through AZ, Cali in 100 deg. plus ambient. at 64 mph, grinning. Guessing they probably have about 6-8K mi. by now.

I went way extreme on 7k axles with S637 SRH 17.5 235/75 at 6,000 per tire?

Sailun now ships a S637 14ply tire for ST aplications. Its a ST235/80/R16 version thats nearly identical to the LT235/85/R16. Both are max 110psi and require metal valve stems. You can contact Sailun by email and they refer you to your nearest distributor. Then a call to the distributor gets you a sampling of dealers in your area. For me in the N. Dallas area it is McKinney Tire and Trailer and cost for 4 mounted and balanced is $600.

I've only heard praise for the Sailuns. Only drawback is that dealers are few and far between if you need a replacement tire.

I changed over to Bridgestone Duravis R250's, and they're also a very impressive tire--on par with the Michelins at less cost.

I have 5, if I need one, Simpletire.com will ship them. I bought them hoping I don't need them very often.

New Sailuns ( Got Kind of Long Winded )

We spent nearly two months in the Branson, MO area and while we were there we had to replace the tires on our 5th wheel.

When we departed on our trip the 1st of October I planned on this being the last trip for the Carlisles that I had on the trailer. About 100 miles out from our destination, I stopped at a rest area and as usual, checked the rig over. Noticed that one of the trailer tires had cracks starting to show in the side wall that were not there earlier that day. Believe me I kept a close eye on the TPMS to be sure that pressure and temp did not change on that tire.
\
Had previously decided that the next set of tires would be Sailun S637 ST235/80R16. Tried to find a dealer in the Branson area with no luck, so went with Simple Tire. They sent tires to me FedEx right to my trailer. Pulled two wheels at a time and went to tire shop to have them mounted. Very impressive service from Simple Tire and the Sailun's are an impressive looking tire. Only have 1000 miles on them so far but hope for many more.

"YEP"

I never understood why people put tires on their units that have a history of self destruction all for the savings of a couple of hundred dollars. The real weight of the camper, speed rating and low pressure are the killers all running at near max or at the max of the tires. In my mind cost is secondary and buying tires that are rated well over your situation will keep you out of trouble every time. Standing on the side wall of my TOWMAX tire then standing on the side wall of my Sailuns told me I made the right choice. Sailuns aren't that expensive any way and seem to be the flavor of the month until some better comes along.
