Selling truck and 5th wheel as a set?

Ok, as usual, life move on. Priorities have changed and now we're not able to travel as easily as we were several years ago. We are looking at the possibility of selling our rig as a set. My dealer is after my truck so that's an easy fix, my question to the clan is; is there more interest in both truck and trailer together?

Thoughts/Ideas are appreciated.

It's one of those "if you do or if you don't" if you have hard money on your pickup I'd probably take it. I ran mine either or, and nobody had 100k to buy both. I sold the truck to a dealer. The trailer sold 2 weeks later.

Buy selling them together, you're asking people to want the same floorplan, brand, length trailer and the same type of truck you liked. That's a lot of boxes to check. It's a hard sell and I'll venture to bet very few people have sold their rigs as a package. If they did it was probably to someone they knew.

i would try and sell the fifth wheel first in case you need to move or deliver it. Trucks are always a hot market. However, before you take it to a dealer who'll promise you the moon until you get there, check out CarMax and Carvana. The two car buyers offer pretty good prices and will give you a better price or even a very exact figure you should expect from the dealer.

My opinion:

99 times out of 100, you will make more $$$ if you sell them separate.

If you sell them together, you are only appealing to those who want your exact trailer AND they also want your exact truck. It basically won't happen. If you sell them as a pair, you will get less overall $$.

Good luck either way.

Considering age and value purchaser would be looking to finance. They likely will need to be financed, thus purchased separately and the trailer may have much different terms than the truck. Advertise together and be willing to separate based on offers.

This is the "best" answer.

I've seen many ads worded this way:
"For Sale: BLAH BLAH truck and XYZ Trailer for $123. Willing to sell separately, Truck: $456, Trailer $789

That way you may catch a buyer that wants a truck, or maybe a buyer that wants a trailer... OR (best case) someone that wants both.

Sell the trailer on RVT first , offer the truck as a package but expect to trade the truck in on a new daily driver or sell it to CarMax .

Bought mine as a combo. Private sale.

The trailer is the pricise model that we were after. The truck, not so sure about at the time but 17 years later we still have both. Turns out that the 2006 3500 DRW Chevy 6.6L Isuzu was a great model year truck and engine. Only 16,000 miles on it when we bought it. 280,000 miles on it now. Only one major repair though another coming this spring.
