Slider hitch not locking in "tow" position

Hi,

I searched this forum, and can't find any postings listing my problem. Last year I bought Silverado short box, and a Reese Slider hitch. After installation, the slider hitch sounds like metal grinding when operated. I lubed up the rollers before installation, and just recently, but still lots of noise. The big problem though is on our last trip back home, I tried to slide the hitch forward, it would slide forward, but not lock. As soon as I tested to make sure it was locked, it would just slide back. I checked and made sure after sliding the trailer forward, the locking handle moved to the "locked towing" position, but it hadn't locked. The trailer would just slide back. Kinda hairy driving home.

I checked the Reese Youtube video on how to use the hitch, and I'm doing it correctly.

I have a 700 mile trip planned in a couple of weeks, and need to get this slider thing figured out. Any solutions?

Gary

When moving the handle from one position to another don't baby it. Slam it home.

You sure don't want on the road till you get the hitch repaired.

As I read the beginning of this thread I was thinking the exact same thing. Very glad I got rid of the megacab for the longbed.

Hope you get it figured out OP.
