Question Slides in or out when not in use

I have seen people's 5er's in their yard with the slides out and I have seen others with the slides in. Is there any reason to leave them out?

Our rv is In the yard and we leave it open. I install a plug where we park and we keep it plugged in. That way we can keep the refrigerator on and in the summer I run the ac on 78 to keep the moisture in check and keep it from getting musky.
With it open we are in and out to clean or get things out that we need. I guess it is whatever works for you.

Most are better sealed against rain and rodents when slides are in. The inner seals are pretty easily pushed aside. Try it and decide for yourself.

If you have retractable slide covers, you’ll get less UV damage to them keeping the slides in when not in use.

If the RV is in storage mode, slides in mean less roof and siding are exposed to the elements.

Ours are in when not using or working on it inside.

Reasoning: less space taken up in the driveway, slide roof will last longer, slide seals are not in direct sunlite, and better protection from bugs and rodents.

Slides out only when necessary. Limit exposure of slides and seals to get longer life out of them.
