The Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch, good for short bed crew cabs?
Yes and it is Lippert approved. I have a crew cab F350 short bed.

JFYI

Actually, unless something has changed in the last month the Anderson is NOT Lippert approved. As a matter of fact it will void your frame warranty if you use it on your 5th wheel.

Before we choose the Reese goosebox I talked with Lippert and my 5th wheel manufacturer about it and the strongly recommended against that hitch.

Absolutly correct. Lippert doesn't build the best frame in the world so vertical pin box stress is that frames worst nightmare. They provide a waiver for the Goosebox.

Right out of the Lippert Frame Warranty: "This warranty does not cover any Product which is found to have been modified or altered in any way, including, but not limited to,installation of any and all after- market hauling attachments such as gooseneck adapters, pinbox extensions, tow hitches, load bearing devices, or other attachments to the Product."

When you're looking at different fifth wheels and you've found a few that you like here's a quick test you can do to determine the strength of the frame the whole thing is built on.

Call the manufacturer and ask them if it's okay to carry a 300 pound motorcycle on a rack on the back of the trailer, and see what they say.

When I called Northwood, the company that made my Arctic Fox 27 – 5L including the frame, and asked them that question, they said sure, just weld the rack to the frame and you'll be fine.

I think you'll find that a lot of other trailer manufacturers will get the vapors when you ask them that question.

Most RV manufacturers use Lippert frames. Not sure they build to different quality standards for different companies but it is doubtful. Suspension and wheel components likely vary but frames? Not so much.
