Snow Load

How much snow would you say is to much. Got 0.5 of ice and a foot of snow inbound. thinking 6 inches would be plenty before sweeping it off.

Dry snow is light and fluffy. Ice and wet snow is another matter.
Here in Nova Scotia the building design snowload is 12"
During the 2015 winter I had 3-4 ft on my house and was up there 4 times to shovel it off. There were quite a few roofs that could not withstand the weight.
6", I wouldn't worry about it.

Consider that the ice is extremely heavy and potentially destructive.

We see feet of usually pretty soggy snow here in the NE. I've had up to 2+ feet on the current 5er and over 3 feet on the last with nary a problem. Dealers don't do a thing to their syock in snow conditions and they are just fime, too.

Here's an interesting article on snow weight:https://www.inverse.com/article/1053...oes-snow-weigh

There are also snow load calculators on the net as well.
