Correct, unless there is another wire on your batt negative terminal from the solar.

Depends on where they ran the wire from the panel/controller. Mine has a smaller one that is wired in at the disconnect switch in a storage compartment. It is wired between the switch and battery so it is always connected. The other wire that hooks to my battery positive terminal is the tongue jack. Mine is wired so even if I use the disconnect switch the solar panel can still charge the battery. There is a separate switch for the panel.

With a larger panel like yours it should be wired to a charge controller which will limit the charge once the battery is full. Some solar panels have them built in but usually those are portable panels. You will need to trace the wires to know for sure. Then it will be safe to leave it on when the rig is stored and the batteries are disconnected.

There are multiple places it could be wired in, you will need to verify when it is producing power with a volt/ohm meter to be safe.

If you have the panel connected to your charge controller, and unhook the battery from the C/C. You could damage the C/C.
