Solitude Awning Lights

I have this really nice 37' Solitude 5th wheel.
A few minor items but that's typical.
What drives me crazy is when the dealer supposedly checks things out before you take it home and crap still doesn't work.

We have2 awnings, the LED lights work on the rear awning, but the front awning or the led lights on the front surrounding the black will not come on.
I called the dealer, he says, will bring it in. My response is I live in it, I will be darned if I'm gonna pack up my house and sit in their office while they fix my RV!
They are the largest RV dealer in the NorthWest and they do not have a mobile repair service.

So, here I am.

Check the fuse for the awning lights. If it is a Traveller Awning in the front support arm under the cover at the bottom is an in line fuse. It is a blade type I think 2 amp, make sure it is there or not blown.
As far as the front lights can not help as we own a Road Warrior but the switch for our front lights is on the nose beside the landing gear control.

On our solitude , the front cap lights , under chassis lights , and hitch light are all on a waterproof switch on the front wall below the overhang. All tied together just inside the front storage compartment

If it is a Traveller each awning has it's own fuse for the lights in the compartment on the power arm for the lights. The fuse in the fuse block is for power but each has a fuse to the lights.

How do you like your solitude?

I am comparing Arctic Fox, Glacier Peak, Reflection, and Solitude 5th wheels. We are not full-timing, and we like the Solitude 310 GK, but it is a little too long. We prefer a 30-32 foot length. A new model is coming out, 280RK, but we are not willing to wait 4 to 6 months or so.

Are you completely happy with your Solitude?

From what I have seen the led strip turning black is typical water getting into the strip. I have replaced both front and rear awning strip on our 2015. Ours is a Colorado carefree awning and the strip is easy to remove and peel and stick the new one in is place.if you googly how to replace it there is a video on YouTube. It gives you step by step instructions. The strip are available on Amazon or most rv centers( may not be a stock item),and should be around $50 each. You will need a crimp tool for butt splices and 2 red butt splices. You put the splices in the drum the awning rolls up on. The last one I did I used the picnic table as a ladder at the camp site. 1/2 hour job after you have done the first one.

Call Grand Design customer service and have a claim started. once they review photos and information they will allow you to use a mobile tech to come out and make repair.
