Just curious if anyone has made the jump from motorhome to 5th wheel? A Super C in particular to a 5th wheel is my question. We are in a Super C now which has been awesome and a great experience but just curious if anyone has been this route and ended up in a 5th wheel..

Just completed the transition. While we terribly miss the comfort and technology of the motorhome, it became apparent that we weren’t using the coach to its potential. Back to a fairly sophisticated fifth wheel and a whiz-bang truck, and
we couldn’t be happier! The motorhome has found an exciting new home, and we don’t worry about the above average expenses in this crazy world we find outselves in.

Went from a gas Class C to two different 5th wheels over a period of 7 years. They towed wonderfully and you can’t beat one for space when you’re setup at camp. We eventually went back to a motorhome as it fits our travel style better, which is short stays and frequent trips.

Each one has pros and cons, for us there were a few more pros on the motorhome list, but I do miss my diesel truck [emoji41]

We went from class A's to a 5th wheel and couldn't be more satisfied.

For us, we did not like having to take it in for yearly service and got a little tired of recalls. We full time and every time you take it in, you pack up for travel to go for service.

With a tow vehicle, if there is a recall, you take your truck in and leave the RV at the camp site. If they need to keep it longer than one day, you usually can get a loaner.
I can fix 90% of any problems with the RV. AND it has more "living" space in it.

As a bonus, we get better fuel milage with it also.

It's been 10 years since we transitioned from a Class A diesel to a fifth wheel but the overall deciding factor for us was the economics of it all. At that time initial cost for a decent diesel pusher was quite a bit more than a nice truck and fifth wheel, maintenance was more frequent and costly, insurance was higher and fuel usage was more. We liked traveling in our Class A with access to everything as we went down the road but we still have access to our bathroom and refrigerator with our fifth wheel, we just have to make a short outdoor walk to get to them.

Some will say a motorhome for frequent moves and traveling, a fifth wheel for less traveling and more staying. I never found that to be much of a factor. One advantage a motorhome has is the ability to level from inside but auto level on a fifth wheel narrows the gap. Hooking up the utilities the is same no matter what you have. I also found I can hook up a fifth wheel to my truck as fast if not faster than hooking up a towed vehicle. A good hitch and bed camera on the truck makes it pretty easy. We use a Reese Goose Box with our Pinnacle and with our high mounted cab camera I can usually hit it just right on the first try.

Our Pinnacle is as comfortable as any rv we have owned in our 40 years of doing this. Another motorhome equalizer for it is the BMPro system Jayco uses which allows me to operate all the systems, lights, awnings, jacks, slides, tanks and heat and air with an app on my phone. It works with Bluetooth and/or wifi which means if the system is connected to wifi I can monitor the systems no matter where I am.

Thanks all for the replies. I kinda waited till I posted more to hear the responses. We have had 3 motorhomes and the one we have now is a Renegade Verona 36VSB. It is and has been awesome. Here are my thoughts and why I asked the question.... I have a hard time justifying the expense in the winter months when its sitting in my shop. When pulling the toad we are not supposed to exceed 65 mph. I know the part about vacation and not being in a hurry and enjoy the ride etc.... When we travel we usually meet our kids who have 5th wheels and my son always blows by me on the interstate on the way home and gets home a lot sooner then I do. No big deal I know. But it seems he has a lot more room than I do and he can use his truck year round while my MH is sitting in my building.. Just curious about what others have been through and appreciate all the responses...

Same issues here. We had a motorhome for 9 years and it always bothered me to park it at the beginning of November and not use it again until April, sometimes May. Even though I used fuel additives for storage and would exercise the engine and generator about once a month I still didn't like an expensive drive train going unused that long. Also, for servicing no one within a reasonable driving distance would touch it so I had to do it myself. I could do the maintenance type stuff but any repairs were beyond my ability.

With no drive train to deal with a fifth wheel is much more in my comfort zone. Admittedly if I didn't have the Pinnacle I wouldn't need an F350 but I would still need a truck. We do find the living space and storage to be much more to our liking than our 2 motorhomes. Good luck with your decision.

All great thoughts and a lot we have thought about and some we have not. Another thing that is frustrating to me is I am driving a motorhome and pulling a toad behind me so we can drive around while we are camping. To throw in a golf cart that would mean a bigger trailer to haul both road and golf cart. With a 5th wheel toy hauler it kinda seems all boxes can get checked.

Grandkids love the motorhome and usually ride with us to and from for it is more comfortable on them.

No perfect solution..
