In lots of areas dumping the grey tank on the ground is illegal, it is in the whole state of Oregon, even on private property. Other areas encourage it.
I don't and won't do it.
My tanks are 95 fresh, 65 grey and 65 black In my motorhome.

Reason I ask, is it would be very hard to figure out running out of fresh water at the exact time the grey and black tanks fill? As mentioned above, normally the total waste will be more than the fresh capacities, but varies a lot between mfgs.
In our normal camping over the years, without hookups, we have always had to replenish the fresh water, and the fill of the black dictated when we had to go to a campground. Never used the portable dump tanks.
And this topic should eventually start a discussion of what to do with grey water when it fills before the black tank fills--on the ground or not?

I hope no one dumps their grey on the ground in or near a CG. Disgusting. I don't care if tenters dump a dish pan of dishwater in the bushes, but dumping 30,40,50 ,60 gals on the ground in or around a CG is just not right.

I actually did this with the galley and grey tank. All that was needed was a Valterra T58 twist on gate valve at the dump end. Pull both the galley and grey valves and the galley drains into the larger grey tank by gravity. You could, I suppose open both grey and black, but I prefer not to mix the tanks this way. Unless you are hooked up, fluid stays inside the drain line until next dump.

In our area, street sewers drain into the environment. In many newer, Western systems, the street sewers are combined and go to treatment plants. I'd make sure your street sewer goes to a treatment plant and not just into a local stream. Many years ago I organized student environmental groups to go and stencil street sewers, "Drains into the Ohio River" to help enlighten people not to use a street sewer as a place to discard motor oil, paint, etc.

I have not had a tailer with water before, but I have had other unit including my current one.
I am perfectly fine and it makes sense to have larger holding tank capacity then fresh. What I am finding, is that many units have 20% or greater fresh water holding then waste. One used unit we are looking at has 140 gal of fresh water, with 50 gal black and 50 gal grey. So in this case it is 40% greater.

Are you cousin Eddie of Vacation fame dumping his holding tanks in the street drain?
On our 5er we have 60 fresh, 87 grey and 47 black. So we'll run out of fresh way before ever filling the waste tanks

I use to use outside shower when at the beach, wash off muddy shoes, also wash the dog, other random uses for outside fresh water.
