I used a B&W turnover ball with the Andersen Ultimate on my former 2015 F-250. I installed both myself. The instructions and videos saved me about $1500 in installation fees. I did not have to remove an old one though. I liked the combination because it kept my bed clean and flat when the hitch was not in.

I think that truck might bend in half if the frame is rusted at all. Even if it is not rusted the frame on Ford's were never very strong. Not until recently that is.

Maybe look for a usex 5th wheel hitch.

I also use a Reese Goosebox and would highly recommend it. Not sure what they cost. My Arctic Fox came with the moride box which the dealer swapped for the Goosebox as part of my deal. They even gave me the Moride , which I sold later. I installed my Gooseneck turnover ball for about 300.00$, and the truck bed wiring for about 10$. I am 67 years old and it was an easy job. I am shocked by the prices people are willing to pay for a hitch install. I think a B&W is about 450$ and the Curt and Draw-tite are about 350$. My Son-law and I this week installed a Gooseneck hitch, Amp steps and installed the truck bed trailer plug in one good Day. The Amps steps were by far the most work. Good luck. Dave-R

Where is everybody getting there hitches so cheap? I just signed on 5ver today and am now looking to purchase all the parts to install the hitch and am doing the work myself. Here is my breakdown.

1. B&W Slider Hitch RVK3400 - $1,403.00
2. CURT Custom Wiring Harness - $70.97
3. Turnover Ball w/ Head & Rails - $539.00

I also am putting an Air Lift bumper adjustable air spring kit for $345.

So I am out over $2,000 just for the hitch set up and that's without paying for installation. What am I missing here? How are some of you getting the hitch that cheap and installed?

Chris

If you don't mind used you can save money. The wiring and turnover ball quotes are pretty good, if that is INSTALLED price, but there are B&W Companion hitches available for quite a savings

Example, I had a local shop install the turnover ball mount with wiring for $600. The turnover ball mount pretty is hard to find used. Good used I'll add. But the Companion is out there if you look. On Craigslist I located a used one, Companion slider, in south TN for $900. Only a slight scratch to hitch plate from the single use. Turns out I don't need the slider so after using twice, I found in south AL, a new in box fixed base 20K Companion which I am going to put together and use. $500. Then I'll sell the slider for maybe a bit more than I paid.

Why??. A lot of people are getting their new trucks with the in bed pucks and selling their used turnover ball style mount. In a 4 week period I found easily a dozen or more B&W Companions within 300 miles of my location, and I am in the country in lower population density. A google search of CL found numerous often in places like Dallas area etc.

If you go that route, get one that was stored inside, not behind the shed out back. People ask the moon but take much less. For wiring, if you have a metal saw, installation is easy since the newer trucks have "plug-n-play" trailer wiring. I had the shop install since I don't have metal hole saws that size and they weren't ripping me off. For the turnover ball mount same comment. Easy to install, at least in newer truck. Buying from the right vendor, or CL can save you the tax which can amount to a couple hundred more. For that you could buy all the hole saws you would need and more.

Good luck in the search.

Might be cheaper to install the rails and go with the B&W Patriot hitch?

I don't know if it will help your cause or not, but here are some exact quotes for what I did. The quotes I got were from an RV 4X4 dealer in the suburban Harrisburg, PA area.

Their Quote
AirLift WirelessONE 5,00 lb. Air Bags with controller $1,494 (+ tax = $1,584) + $870 install =$2,454
B&W Turnover Ball Gooseneck Hitch $821 (+ tax)= $870 installed
Total: $3,324

Me Installing and Buying from SD Truck Springs (web)
AirLift oad Lifter 5000" Air Bags $291.67
Air Lift WirlessONE Compressor System $291.67
B&W Turnover Ball Gooseneck Hitch $457.00
Total (No Tax; Free Shipping; Coupon Discount): $1,014

It took me three days in the evening doing it in my garage by myself. I did not have another hitch system in the bed of the truck before install.

Isn't the Patriot only rated for 18k?

Shop around! It's not the fancy setup you have but I just ordered a Curt Q24 from "e trailer" that someone had returned to them because it had a few scratches on the base from shipping. The hitch had never been installed and came in original box. The 4 bolts that mount the legs to the base were missing but they told me that up front so I ordered some for less than $10 and they came right with the hitch. The hitch is a little more than I need @24k but what can I say when it was only $111.00 delivered. $111.00 is NOT a typo.

Unless your set on a real fifth wheel, we are happy with the Anderson Ultimate Hitch.

That is exactly what I am running in my 07 Ram 2500 CTD. I replaced my Andersen steel rail hitch with an Ultimate because I wanted my flat floor back. Found a B&W new in box from a guy that had it a few years and never installed it for $250, then found a used Ultimate in great shape for $500, both on Craigslist. I installed them myself. So, for $750 I have a great setup and have no desire to ever go back to any other type of hitch.
