Teton 5th Wheel in Distress

Hi everybody
This is hard to explain.
The front landing gear (hydraulic) is completely retracted
For some unknown reason the front slide came in which
moved the ram under the bed causing a break in the hydraulic
hose fitting. This caused a hydraulic leak Not good for the carpet..
That will have to be fixed before any help could be
expected from the landing gear. In the meantime raising the front
and cribbingunder the pin box maybe in order. My front end is on the ground
Would be almost impossible to get hydraulic jacks under the frame
Any advice so appreciated
PS. We do not have a truck
Thank you. Lowell

There should be a manual override procedure. Do you know the leveling jack manufacturer?

I'm thinking a fork lift with enough narrow settings on the forks to get under the king pin plate without tearing the front cap off as the RV is lifted.
It's not going to be cheap.

So you don't know how/why the front slide moved??

Sounds like your leak has drained all the hydraulic fluid or the leak doesn't allow for any pressure to build up. ...which will drain all your hydraulic fluid.

Since the jacks and slides work off the same hydraulic system, I would work on finding out what caused the leak and repairing that.

When you fix the leak and refill the fluid reservoir the jacks should start working again.

Teton 5th wheel in distress

Hi all thanks for your replies
Camp CA. The Ground Control was mfg by Lippert I have talked to 6 different service technicians none of which had heard of a Teton and they could not find any documentation
on the system at all. They were amazed at this pendant control box but even though it had
Lipperts logo on it they couldn't come up with anything
TOBY DOG: Thanks for the fork lift idea. I thought of that also, but the risks are maybe more then the rewards allow.
BOOGIE. This is probably the first thing I should do. I have to fix the leak!!
I thought of jacking the Teton up. It has a drop frame but to find where to put the jacks
being so low, the only part of the frame that is high enough and accessible is about 3 feet
in front of the tires. Wondering if that's too far back? Would be nice if I could get this heavy Teton off it's knees (looks like a camel drinking water) and level and cribbed
Lowell
Ps see photo of the ground control ever seen one of these? It has a out a 15 foot cable
so. You can move about and visually monitor the jacks

Hydraulic toe jacks work well for heavy objects that are close to the ground. They aren't real cheap, maybe try a rental yard. One on each frame rails as close to the front of the trailer as you can get them. Best way to lift would be one person at each jack to avoid lifting one side to much. You'll need a lot of cribbing, so make sure yo have that on hand as well. Toe jacks fit into about a 3/4" gap, so you should be able to jack, crib, reset the jack, jack again, add more cribbing, and so on. That is a lot of weight you'd be lifting, so work slow and carefully, as accidents can happen quickly. Good luck and be careful.

Bring in a wrecker to lift it. Talk to a wrecker company and explain what you want to do, show them the pics before they come out. Once you get it up high enough you can place wooden cribbing under it.
Yes, that control box is the older style Lippert system. Call Lippert and talk to tech support, they will be able to help.

Sorry about your trouble. Not being able to see it all I can do is guess BUT I would probably try to fix the leak first. then the rig may pick itself up. Other than that try a rental place and a jack for each side and jack slowly and add cribbing. If you want to get further forward to start jacking you may be able to dig (if you are on dirt) to get the jack under the frame and just start lifting and blocking. This is not a one person job.
Where are you located? Maybe someone on here is close enough to assist. Good luck.

A crane truck and a sling could probably do it. They are about $150 hr where I live

Teton 5th wheel in Distress

Hi everyone
This has been a long month. If you have read through this thread many of you
have been very encouraging with all your suggestions. There has been a breakthroug at last.
I was able to find a person knowledgeable in hydraulics. After checking a number of issues, he
is quite certain that the problem is the hydraulic pump motor. Even though that is a
spend fix, there is no way around it. This is why the slides have been so erratic and the
jacks front and rear were non-operational It will be so good to be level again. I will have to discard
my "SeaLLegs. Maybe this will help someone else down the road
Still looking for other Teton owners. I tried Tetoners.org but it's really not a forum of help like this forum
and some others.
Happy RVing. Lowell

How did this get to a pump issue when a line fitting has been compromised? Has the line been repaired?
