Tire pressure of 5th wheel

What should tire pressure be on 2004 Cardinal Platnium 5th wheel. Heard 120 but that sounds high. Need confirmation.

What does the tire pressure on the tire side wall say??????? That's the pressure you use. The tire pressure is for the tire not the fifth wheel.

The correct tire pressure can be found on the vehicle’s tire placard, vehicle’s certification label and in the vehicle owner’s manual.

I have a placard on the driver's side of my Silverback that lists the tire size and the recommended tire pressure for my 5th wheel. The tire pressure and maximum load per tire is also listed on the tire sidewall.

I would run them at the max pressure that is on the sidewall, no matter what the MFG stickers says, unless you like changing blown out tires on the side of the road, and having you fenders and coach sides rebuilt!:

Then guy at the tire store told me this also. Tires run cooler inflated, you will never wear out the tires anyway so no worries about wear pattern.

Not unless the tires were changed to something different.

OP and everyone, look on EACH tire's sidewall. They may not even be all the same.

If they are E rating, 80, PSI. G rating, 100 PSI. We towed our fiver over 40,000 miles over 8 years with no tire problems. Our E's were BF Goodrich. The G's were GY 614.

I run my G6`14's at max 110psi per the manufactures placard.

Whatever the advices are on 5th wheeler or tires, tires are often chanched to other specifications, so best is to determine it from 5th wheeler and tires specifications you now have.

From 5 th wheeler need to know GVWR and configuration ( number of axles and tires total on the ground when driving. Best would even be to weigh the 5th wheeler per wheel(pair).

From tires the maximum load and pressure needed for that , but best to give also the speedcode of tire or if they are ST ( special trailer ) tires.
This can be found on sidewall.

If you give all that , I will calculate a save advice pressure for the tires for fully loaded ,with some reserve but no bumping.

Simple
E rated tires 80 psi
G rated tires 110 psi
In all my years of towing I have never seen a tire wear at center.
The edges always wear first.
I had success with LTs even with over inflation while ST tires were complete failures on same unit.

I still check actual tire numbers because I have seen E range tires rated for 65PSI.

Many, not all, tire manufactures of ST tires states you can run them at speeds over 65 if you add 10# air to max. Personally we won't run ST tires.

The most accurate way to determine the tire pressure to use is to have each wheel weighed separately, and use the manufacturer's inflation guide. Use the heavier weight on each axle to determine the weight. Otherwise, use the sidewall pressure to be safe.
