Tire wear

I have a 3485SA Montana 5th wheel. Recently blew the driver side tire going down the Interstate, replaced the tire and now the other tire is seperating. The trailer has a Mor Ryde suspension. Bent axle?

First,

Tread separation in and of itself has nothing to do with tire wear. There are any number of tires under 5th wheels that have proven themselves as being exceptionally prone to this problem, especially with age, underinflation and/or overloading. What brand/size tires are failing?

Are you seeing any tire wear that would be indicative of tire alignment/axle problems? If so, can you provide photos or description?

I had similar problems with tire separation on my Montana 3400RL. It wasn't the axle, but the lousy Chinese Mission tires coming apart.

The 2007 & 2008 Montana 3485SA models weigh in right at 15,300# GVWR. Although I could not find an actual axle rating I suspect they are somewhere around 6750# each. In the later model years Keystone recommends the LT235/85R16G tire (G614) as suitable replacements for those axles.

The G614 tire will increase your load capacity by at least 230# per tire and increase your trailer speed limit to 75 MPH.

Weigh your RV. Put on American made tires to carry 125% of your RV's weight.
Problem solved.
