Tireminder smart TPMS on rubber valves

I bought this set of tire pressure monitors and curious if other owners have installed them on standard rubber valve stems. Each valve unit only weighs 0.5oz including battery so doubt any issue with centrifugal force causing problems. I looked into steel valve stems but local tire dealer can't find any that fit the hole in rims. Owners manual only states possible issues if using valve extenders and suggests steel ones in that case.

Dunno. But "possible" issues were enough for me. Luckily, the coach itself and my car came standard with rigid metal stems. I had to get them installed on the tow dolly.

OTOH, many people report no problems.

When I had new tires and wheels installed on Jeep they used rubber stems with the faux metal sleeve over them. First trip with TPMS sensors I could see where they were banging against wheels. Needless to say I replaced with true metal stems.

Dill makes a full line of metal valve stems, and you should be able to get one that will fit Dill Air Controls Products » Performance/Specialty Valves

If not, try triming a short piece of pool noodle to slide over the sender and stem - it did that on one trailer I had and it worked like a champ.

I have steel stems. If it says 'possible issues' that is enough for me to switch to steel. I would be very uncomfortable without my monitors.
