Tires

Tires
My 5th wheels been stored on my property

Gonna tow it from SW up to PNW across nevada. E Oregon, Idaho etc

Been getting it ready , coated roof, test drive, new parts etc etc

Tires............ I found my Tire receipt when I bought new tires when I first got the 5er. Tires were bought 9/21/05 . Kept them covered and would jack up the axle and spin the tire every so often(many times 1-2 times a year)Its Aug. 2021 today

Buy date 9/21/05 . Would you go buy new tires ?

My first thought: gets some new tires dude.

Inspecting old tires I dont see any cracks except one tire on the edge, tread to side wall

My thoughts are: spend $450 and get new tires dude Peace of mind, or when my tire flies apart , rips my RV side up in middle of no-where 100 my north of winnemucca . Id wished Id spent the $450 instead of taking a chance

Would you buy new tires or save the dough$$ and go for it?

You just answered your own question in the last paragraph. I agree with buying new tires for sure.

New tires. No question. They will be hard as a rock, not brake or track well, and will start cracking as soon as they start turning.

Now, I'm interested where you got that $450 number.....you may be in for a bit of a shock with modern tire prices....my Goodyear G604's were $330...EACH.

$330 each ? Must be class 8 truck tires or got at Ricky-rip-off's tire shop

America's Tire - 225/75/15 load E. 4 tires mounted balanced taxed and double taxed

They even have some that are less expensive than that

Already shopped around for prices

Just put 4 Toyo Open Country III A/T , 286/75/16/ load E on my diesel truck for just over $1000

No ripoff. If you want a load range G tire from Goodyear, you will pay anywhere

between the $330 up to almost $400. That is the going price.

Plenty of people swear by these tires and have no issue paying the price.

The Michelin tires of the same size will run you around the same price.

Both are quality tires.

Think of it this way, you paid $1000 for 4 load range E tires and mrgrayaz paid

$1320 for load range G tires. To me, that is not that unreasonable for a tire that

is 2 load ranges higher. Only $80 more per tire.

When a tire blows it usually (75% of the time) will damage the trailer. What happens is the tread will come apart and slap against the trailer and break stuff until you get it stopped.

New tires will have a higher speed rating. This higher speed rating tells me the tires are made better.

My tires weren’t too old. Then I blew a cheap Chinese tire in a mountain canyon. Imagine blowing one during rush hour in a large city. [emoji33]

friend sold his camper that he bought new, sat on a seasonal site since 2009 to a guy. The looked at the tires. Looked great, always covered, checked the pressure every season. The new owner got 70 miles before the first one blew. Did $5,000 damage to a 2009 TT. You decide which is the right move.
