Traveling with gas on
Just wondering how many of you travel with the gas on to your refrigerator? I've heard everything from NEVER, to ALWAYS and ya but turn it off when I fill up with gas. Just wondering how safe it is to do so.

I've only done it since 1967 or so with no problems.
Your RV's propane system is designed, built, tested and certified to be on when moving as well as parked. It does need to be off in some tunnels and when fueling up.

If it wasn't safe when traveling I would NOT want it on while I was sleeping.
RV Propane Systems have safety features/devices.
Excess Flow Device...downstream flow increases from broken line it shuts down limiting the flow
Cylinders even have more.......excess flow device in the pigtail AGME Nut
ACME Nut has a 'stub' that pushes open the spring loaded shutoff valve in the cylinder OPD valve . Thermal bushing in ACME Nut melts in high temp (Fire) and allows 'stub' to move---spring loaded shutoff valve closes---no flow
Each propane appliance has FLAME Proving ----miliamp signal is generated when main flame lights off. No main flame...no signal...gas valve closes.
Safe....you bet.

Hey it happens.......
April 16, 2017 MESA AZ
Course it had NOTHING to do with propane...engine backfired and ignited gas fumes.

No reason to leave it on. Put a fan in the frig and keep the doors closed. Everything will keep fine until you turn it back on.

Always did so until we got the MH, now we usually travel with the generator running so we can run the house air.

I did with my class c, 2 class A's and now my 5th wheel with no issues. With the c/a I only shut it off when filling the built in tanks or when restricted for tunnels etc.

Thanks everyone for your input and advise. Guess we will give it a try and shut it off when we fill with gas. Thanks again to everyone!!

I never leave it on when in motion. Refrigerator stays cold. When we stop for a while I open it up. Why chance it. I suppose if your driving non stop all day but we only drive 2 hours before taking a break, and off at 3pm or 300 miles.
