I've pulled travel trailers for decades but I'm actively looking for a (used) 5er that is 4 Season - or closest thing to it. I'm finding that some manufacturers don't quite live up to that.

My recent research into the Northwood Mfg products look like some of the best in their build, double pane windows, insulation, underbelly, tank heaters, etc.

I'm looking at an Artic Fox 27-5L, possibly a 29-5T.

What other brands have proven 4 Season builds? My primary purpose is to start boondocking in the mountains (CO, WY, MT, ID, etc.). Probably looking for something that can handle as low as 15F-20F.

Any experienced 4-Season folks here that can offer what brands/models I should look at?

Proven 4 season brands used

NuWa
Excel
NewMar Kountry Aire or Mountain Aire (350 or 3500 minimum to move)
Teton (better have 450 or better to tow)
Artic Fox
Carriage Carri Lite
Royals International (if you can find one)

Continental by forks (rare but a awesome 5ver) 550 or better to start moving one.

New Horizons hard to find one used

The Newmar and the Teton will handle cold no problem. Having owned both they can handl -10 without blinking. The others ive heard no problems in cold conditions but cant say first hand

below 20 ive heard many DRV owners say there looking for warmer climate. as i didnt mention them. Youll want to look for a rig with 2 furnaces and use em. dont let an electric heater in one. they burn less gas and run so much less

I have a drv and have used it in the winter (I live in Alberta Canada) -20c for 5 days and yes it will use a lot of propane but still less than our previous Cedar Creek. 2 Furnaces would make a difference and some of the DRV do have 2 or can be ordered that way. If I could do it I would head south also but unfortunately I still have to work LOL....

-20 is around -4 farenheidt thats respectable. first drv owner in the frigid zone ive spoken to.

There is a new manufacturer out. Alliance RV. They claim to be "fulltime" Fifth Wheels. Check them out.

I do not know if the Riverstone would be considered in this group as it does have thicker walls and insulation

If you are looking for a cold weather 5th wheel and already looking at Arctic Fox you do not need to look any further. I know if I was in an Arctic Fox I would not be looking for anything better.

There are different 5th wheels with different decor and different floor plans but as far as staying warm I would pick the Arctic Fox.

If staying warm is not the tip top priority then there are several 5th wheels I like a lot better. The Forest River RiverStone Front Kitchen model is a good second choice.It has 3.5" walls. DRV Mobile Suites or Luxe are two more fancy 5th wheels with good insulation. To me the way I would pick these are Luxe, RiverStone, DRV Mobile Suites.

But to reiterate - to stay warm it is the Arctic Fox. But to be fancy it is Luxe, Riverstone, DRV MS.

The other Northwoods brand OutdoorsRV is very good and claim 0 degree operation. I have had mine down to single digits many times and not frozen anything although we opened some cabinet doors just to be on the safe side. If you used a skirt they would go lower but it is not needed for single digits. Double pane windows are standard on every trailer, 2 inch foam filled walls, best frames in the business. @consolenut has the list! Arctic Fox gets my vote for what your can find out there readily in the used realm.

Alliance RV, new to the block, but same old build techniques, and it is not a 4 season! Seen them, talked to their designer at length, know their BD guy who came over from Grand Design. After all the hype, I was really disappointed to see more of the same.
