Ugh! Lippert Landing Gear Seized Up

I popped my shear pin a couple weeks ago. Didn't think much of it had a spare put it in. Then while we were out camping this weekend, I watched the front landing gear on the helper side slide down. The whole time we were camping the 5er was a little bouncy. On further inspection when we were getting ready to leave, I noticed the helper side was not bearing any weight at all. When I lifted the landing gear to trailer home a whole bunch of sheared off metal came out of the bottom. Now I one side on landing gear the other side propped up with a bottle jack. The search is on for spare landing gear. I'll send pics later.

Please follow up with your observations and root causes.

I would like to know myself why your landing leg fails. Especially since you are probably not abusing it. I park my jeep under the fifth overhang. Having the pin drop onto the hood and windshield would be no fun!

I do not run my landing gears to full stop ever. Too hard on the gears and shaft. How did your shear pin break?

From you post I assume it electric gear not hydraulic and the pin on the curbside is broken, here's the manual: https://support.lci1.com/electric-landing-gear

All fixed.

Had to remove the helper leg and replace. Not a hard job. Finding a new one in stock in Denver, that's another story. Things always break the day before you go on a trip. Couldn't wait for Amazon. Paid an extra $45 for the convince I guess.
