Vanleigh RV now a division of Tiffin
I've seen on the Vanleigh RV website, they are touting that they are now a division of Tiffin Motor Homes. Not sure what to make of this move. Has anyone seen or heard any "news" good or bad (but not fake) that perhaps the financial status of Vanleigh RV was not doing well? Should this be viewed as good or bad?

From what I know, it's always been a division. The name (Vanleigh) is a combo of the founder's son & grandson name.
You can read about the company here:

Yes, Van Tiffin is middle son and Leigh is grandson, hence the name Vanleigh.

I wouldn't be too worried about that as others have mentioned they are all one big happy family. I don't know much about the Tiffin line of A class MH but from what I have read and heard they are an upper echelon manufacturer in the scheme of things. The fact you have recently purchased a Beacon would not worry me. I am hoping the Vanleigh line comes to Canada! Good luck with your Beacon and would be interested to hear how the PDI and more specifically YOUR eye and touch test goes lol All the best. We would consider the Villano model but keeping it stationary.

I've always understood that Vanleigh RV was owned by Tiffin's, but it was not attached to Tiffin Motor Homes as a business entity until this recent announcement. It was done for business reasons, just don't know what those reasons were. Could be good or not so much.

Have not heard anything good or bad RE VanLeigh finances. My guess is there is no issue there, but I have no direct knowledge just opinion.
I do think this is positive over all. If VanLeigh is not in the best financial shape, current owners are now under the Tiffin umbrella if things get shut down. Again I don't think thats the case.
Given that Bob Tiffin has been in the business for over 40 years, and there has always been a tight family connection, this move appears to allow for a smooth transition for Van and Leigh to assume the reins of Tiffin when Bob decides to eventually retire.

Host next door just took delivery of a 40’ Villano. Appears to be a nice rig. I wish they would have gotten a bigger truck to haul it.

I think this is a plus for VanLeigh and a non event for Tiffin.
From the VanLeigh side, they get access to bigger purchasing power and MRP systems, extensive engineering resources and other benefits.
For Tiffin motorhomes, there may be a small increase in purchasing power and a small dilution of resources, but it would be very hard to quantify.
From a customer standpoint, Tiffin has such a good marketplace equity that it likely help VanLeigh. Potential customers who recognize the Tiffin name but are not familiar with VanLeigh can realize the Van Leigh products will be well supported.
When we were there for our build, I did some math in my head about monthly revenue for Tiffin Motorhomes and the numbers I came up with were huge.

We purchased a Vilano 365RL last Jan. Absolutly love it. Well made and great layout. We chose it first for the floor plan and amenities, second for the service history of Tiffin. We have not been disapointed with Vanleigh at all. We feel confident that we made the correct choice. Being directly unde the Tiffin umbrella can only be better!

VanLeigh is by Tiffin
I recently spoke with Bob Tiffin and YES, VanLeigh is part of the Tiffin MH family. Sometime towards the end of April 2019 they will be adding the Tiffin name to the VanLeighs by means of a decal. Word has it they will be available for current VL owners.
Good Move!!!!!

The factory QC at Vanleigh was horrendous and some sorry examples came out. We saw several and as a result eliminated the Vanleigh from our list. Perhaps Bob Tiffin read the boys the riot act and took over to clean up their act. If so and I see improvement it MAY be back under consideration. But they left a bad taste in my mouth and mind so it would have to be significant. We'll see and maybe just a publicity stunt.

We all get that you don't like them. They left a bad taste in your mouth. OK...but other people had a different experience. Move on.
