Washer/dryer size

What stacked washer/dryer fits in the closet of your 5th wheel?

We are looking and could use any advice you have.

Whirlpool at one time made a compact, stacked washer and dryer. I'm not sure if they still do. We installed a pair in a 2005 Country Coach that we owned. Worked great for the 3 years we owned it. We bought a 2017 fifth wheel a couple of years ago and I let the dealer talk me into the stacked Splendide brand. The dryer takes twice the time to dry as the Whirlpool and the washer is a piece of crap. The first washer was DOA and the replacement's circuit board went out on the second load. They sent me a new circuit board but it's only warranted for one year. We rarely use it. The circuit board is a common problem.

We have worn out a pair of Splendide stackables over the 10 years we have been full timing and they worked pretty well. I replaced the bearings in the washer twice and belts on the dryer a couple of times. When the dryer finally died 2 years ago we replaced it with another splendide. The washer died a year ago and was replaced with a Whirlpool. I think you basically need to look for an apartment sized unit and that is a good starting place for something that will fit. I also prefer individual units instead of an combo. That way you can replace them individually if you need to.

GE dryer on top.
Ariston washer on bottom.
Bought 6 years ago from Home Depot.
Both have been great.

Can't help specifically with the RV but did recently have to find a W/D for a small condo closet. There are an infinite number of sizes (H,W,D) depending on what you need. Just get your tape measure and figure out what will fit. Don't forget to account for the vent, hoses and cord at the back. The depth always seems to be the toughest one.

Thanks to all who responded. We are heading to the RV park in a week or so and will do some measuring and then see what’s available. I think we will avoid the Splendide products as my DW was not happy with the combo unit and your comments we not generally positive.

I appreciate all your help!

WOW! Had my Splendid vented combo for over 10 years and loved it. One problem that was easily and cheaply fixed. Yes they are slow. But we just bought a new washer for home and it takes over an hour to wash. Thats longer than our Splendid took to do the same thing. IMHO time to wash and dry in our RV was irrelivant. Start a load in the morning and go. Come home for lunch, take out clean dry clothes, fold and start another load.
If y'all had a ventless Splendid then I agree their a piece of junk. They boil clothes semi dry and take for ever. Vented models are day and night better.
