Water pressure switch

Just wondering.


Any experience with using an external water pressure switch just on the pressure side of the water pump? Opposed to the builtin pressure switch. Thinking like pressure switches used on wells. Pros - cons besides cost and installation.


I need to replace the pump head on my Shurflo 4148 pump after 8 years of service.

Understand all that. Just wonder if any benefit of a different switch? I'm always looking at options for most anything.

Don't see any advantage having 2 pressure switches controlling start/stop of pump
*neither are going to be set at same pressure.....close but not the same so ONE is still controlling pump functions

Then there is the BYPASS setting.........based on pressure switch shutoff setting

I was unaware that the bypass was depended upon the pressure switch in the pump. I was not going to use both pressure switches only one.


I've put that idea out to pasture.
