You didn't mention the make and model of the water pump. Look it up and see if a manual shows a repair kit that might include a new check valve. Do you have a water pump filter in the line from the water tank to the pump?

This kind of filter prevents debris from damaging the pump and check valve.

I'm thinking that if you have a debris problem making things stick you maybe should think about adding water filters before the water gets in the house. I run 2 whole house filters in a box I built. Sediment filter in the first and a carbon in the second.
This won't fix the problem but may correct the source of the problem.
