When did RV start using Inverters and Battery Banks

When did RV start using inverters and battery banks for 110 power?

My 2008 WolfPack 295WP has a single 12 volt battery for lights, water pump and running the landing gear.

I am not sure when it started, but the Safari Trek model line, like my coach had it back as early as 1992, and I know some of the Safari Kalahari's had it back as far as 1989.

1500 watt inverters became standard on Foretravels in 1991.

Our 88 Suncruiser had 2 batteries, and I added an 800 watt Trace inverter to it.

My '85 did not have an inverter from the factory. I added a dedicated one for the fridge, and a large one for usual 120v requirements.

It is getting more common on many coaches and trailers. A inverter will allow you watch tv, run stereo, compressor fridge and maybe microwave if you camp overnight without shorepower and you don't want to run a generator. Depends on battery capacity and size of inverter, of course. Some, like myself, have installed big inverters and a big battery bank with big solar so they can run everything except ac's with no sp or generator. Some can even run ac's on inverter and battery power.
Know a guy who spent $42000 on a system that allows him complete freedom from running generator or plugging in.
