You'll think this is crazy, but it's my best mod

I'm constantly accessing the front storage compartments of my 5er. Solar panel monitoring, batteries, cooler, etc. I got so tired of breaking my neck to latch the door overhead, and I got 2 magnets to hold it up. The magnets are extremely strong. They are oriented backwards to each other, and are off-set as well (I used the exsisting screws). So the magnets are attracted at a fraction of their potential. It's so nice to just raise up the hatch door until I hear "click"!

2 30lb gas shocks would also work, along with slam latches....your mod a little less labor though...

You just solved a problem for me. When my side compartment door is open it covers the latch for the main door. A magnet on the inside of my compartment door and one on the main door lined up will work great. Thanks and no I don't think it is crazy at all.

That sounds awesome. They use them on the basement doors and such, why not the front too!
