Question 08 Ford Explorer

I have a 08 Ford Explorer with the V8 engine that has a towing rating of 7100#. We are thinking about buying a Salem Hemisphere Hyper lite model
23RBHL. The trailer is listed as UVW of 4900#. I plan on getting a WD hitch. The trailer is 26 foot long. Do you think the Explorer will be able to handle this o.k.?

i towed a 25' rockwood roo with a 2005 v8 explorer and wd setup. i towed 1 season, about 4 trips. i would never recommend that setup to anyone. white knuckled, tail-wagging the dog.
too short of a wheelbase and suspension too soft.
next season i upgraded to a 5th wheel and a F350 dually. Life was sooo much better.

It will tow it, but as fishinjim said, you won't enjoy it. Too much length for too little wheelbase.
If you opt to go ahead, get a ProPride or a Hensley Arrow hitch--you will need one.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will sell the Explore and get a truck.
