Don't want to debate online, but we (BJ and I) would like to present best practices and get the most current information out there. This is from the quoted article and web link presented in our last submission on this topic. Or, could this be "fake news"? Lol.

TIRE MANUFACTURERS WARN THAT TIRES EXPIRE IN SIX YEARS
Many auto manufacturers have taken small steps to warn consumers by placing warnings within the owner’s manual of newer model vehicles. However, due to the cryptic code tire manufacturers use on tires, the warnings are of only limited use to consumers. Nonetheless, the following manufacturers have issued warnings on 2013 and newer vehicles about tire aging:
Ford. GM, Toyota, Dodge, BMW, and other advise that tires expire in six years
Sadly, these warnings are not retroactively provided to consumers who own older model vehicles that are more likely to have aged or expired tires.

Sorry, I didn't see any tire manufacturers in that list of manufacturers. Check post #14 in this thread.

Exactly! The very first line in the quote: "TIRE MANUFACTURERS WARN THAT TIRES EXPIRE IN SIX YEARS", and then the following paragraph lists not even one TIRE manufacturer, but instead AUTO manufacturers.

Fake news? I don't know, but there are plenty of sources that disagree; in fact, all of the contrary opinions that I quoted (NHTSA, Rubber Association, etc) ALSO came from your same Google search. Simply going by the first thing that pops up on a Google search is not exactly what I would consider "best practices" nor the "most current info". And anytime someone starts off with a lie, every other thing they say is automatically suspect; so based on that the possibility of it being "fake news" is pretty high, AFAIC. After 55 years, that's one of the things that flips the switch on my BS meter.

After 50 years of safe motorcycling, we just may appreciate our tires more than most folks. If tires don't deteriorate over time, why bother covering them from the elements?
To each his own. As we said, we'd rather err on the side of safety. Tires cost nothing compared to medical bills or liability. Rubber is what connects us to the road, and the better the rubber, the better the contact.
Cheers! We will retire from this subject saying "keep your rubber on the road and the shiny side up".

Every tire mfgr. I know of states, the tire warranty begins on date of sale on the receipt, lacking a receipt- warranty begins on date of manufacture molded into sidewall. They continue with a statement of how tires are to be stored until sold, those storage conditions are quite similar to how you were told your tires were stored.
