Welcome to iRV2.

I'd say yes , 5ers with that front profile and pin location were set for long box trucks .

BUT ! If the fiver manufacturer is still in business , contact them for info on frame strength , the extra leverage of an extended pin box , may damage the frame.

Have no idea who the manufacturer is. It's an 87 Holiday Rambler.

Imo if you have that amount or more throughout the turning radius you should be alright. Sounds like the slider is doing its job.

If you're saying a front corner gets no closer to 4" of any part of the truck's rear pillars or glass, then yes, you should be okay. I say "should" because you need to be very careful if the truck and trailer are not level to one another during a sharp turn, for example, into a gas station entrance. Turn slowly and glance at the trailer corner and don't let traffic behind you make you rush.

Back the trailer into a 90° jackknife, with someone watching the front corner of the trailer overhang to be sure you don't make contact between trailer and tow vehicle. If you have more than an inch of clearance, you're good to go without spending the big bucks for an extended pinbox.

I don't know anything about phone apps, but on a computer or laptop there will be an "Edit" button at the bottom of your post for about an hour after you post. When time is up, the Edit button goes away. Any decent phone app should work the same way.

I used the edit button on this post to add this addendum. I tried to copy and paste the 5 buttons at the bottom of the post. One of those 5 buttons is the "Edit" button. But copy/paste didn't work to copy and paste those buttons.

Sure. There are lots of numbskulls in the world. A half-ton shorty requires a slider hitch, which is heavy. Add the pin weight of a normal wet and loaded 5er to the weight of the slider hitch and 99% of all half-ton pickups will be overloaded over the payload capacity of the tow vehicle. And only numbskulls tow with an overloaded tow vehicle.

My truck has a 6.2 engine and 3.73 gears , tow bags ands it's a halfton with a 3100 superglide. My 5er weighs 5600 dry. Even loaded I'm well with my towing cap. Honestly I've towed pull behinds and they swerve more.
I guess I'm a numbskull but I inherited this 5er and if I can safely tow it, why not. This trailer hardly make the truck sag even without the bags inflated.

I appreciate your input. Thanks.
