2012 5.7 Hemi 200k miles?

Still looking for a tow vehicle for weekend short haul use. Maybe go 4-5 hours from home. Found this Hemi but 200,000 miles scared me.

Thoughts from the group?

Im a hemi driver. I only drive Dodge. But 200k miles 4 hrs from home would hault me. It may make several trips but it WILL let you down the farthest from home. Of course i know even a new one will but chances are a lot higher with that mileage. Itd be great for short trips in my opinion.

Like justfishing, I like RAM too, and the 5.7 Hemi is solid. But with that many miles on not only the motor, but also the tranny, suspension, braking components, etc and the fact you don't really know the background on the truck, I'd back away and continue the search.

They are good trucks but for a tow vehicle I'd look for something with fewer miles.

As the owner of a 2014 ED used almost exclusively for towing to the tune of 450k miles I would be hesitant mostly because of the old not so Hot 66RFE 6 speed transmission. AAA Premier will tow you up to 200 miles & depending on your state of origin your TT. This really helps cover your butt still I would have to get it cheap to cover a potential lost transmission. My ED has the original unmolested 8 speed but don’t believe they started offering the first until mid 2013. The top end of the Hemi would also be at risk.
