Absolutely. But there is still nothing better then a pickup truck when it comes to ultimate towing experience. I towed my first boat, 26 ft, around 7k on the trailer with a 2002 suburban. Truck did well. Bit boats have much lighter toungue weight and are much more aerodynamic. I wouldn't have wanted to tow much more then that with that particular unit. Replaced it with an f150 and it was a much more stable towing platform imo.

As others have alluded to, it's going to come down to payload. A 6000lb trailer and a Yukon XL isn't out of the realm of possibility. A 6000lb trailer and a Yukon XL with 5 people + stuff in the Yukon is iffy. You just won't know until you start weighing people and things. It sounds like you already have the trailer, so you should load it up and get the tongue weight (use a CAT scale or a trailer tongue scale). Next you need to figure out how much your family and their stuff weigh. You can use a bathroom scale to weigh everyone individually and then their luggage. Or you can put everyone and stuff in your current TV, weigh it, then unload and re-weigh.

Alternatives would be a 3/4T Suburban, an Excursion, or a 3/4 or 1 ton van with 4x4 conversion kit. An Expedition will give a little (~150lbs) more payload, but not a lot.

I guess I was reading it wrong. The trailers dry weight is 4100lbs and the GVRW is the fully loaded max weight. Is that correct? So if we are conscious about how much we put in the camper will that help? I am looking all over the place for a 3/4 Ton Burb or Yukon and can not find one with 100k or less within 500miles of St Louis for 25k or less.

Gvrw is the dry weight of the camper plus the payload of the camper. That's usually the number you wanna assume the trailer weighs. You may think your going to be conscious of what your loading but everyone I've ever met loads there camper up alot. Usually way beyond its limits actually. So unloaded tongue weight is a pretty useless number imo.
