Thanks guys,
This is a reply I got from Michael H of etrailer.com. Unfortunately I put the rig in our Portland, OR storage facility and won't get back to it until May of next year because I live in Hawaii.
Mahalo!
Lloyd,
Thank you for asking the following question:
I cannot seem to get my OEM brake controller to see my 2007 DRV ELITE 38foot RL3. Ive made numerous attempts but still get trailer not connected. Any thoughts?
Answer:
Does the trailer have electric over hydraulic brakes? If so then the brake controller would have to be in electric over hydraulic mode. I know on the new Rams there is an electric over hydraulic mode but I do not know at what model year they started to include that.
If the trailer just has electric brakes then it could be a dirty/corroded trailer connector on the trailer or vehicle side. Make sure both are clean and free of corrosion inside, where the wires attach, and outside on the pins. Inspect the wiring to the brake magnets and fix any pinched or damaged wires. Make sure that the magnet ground wires are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces.
You can visually inspect the magnets and if you can see the copper windings coming through the magnets will need to be replaced. To further test the magnets you can follow the help article I have linked below.
