2019 Chevy 1500 with 2.7 turbo 4 cyl. / other stuff

This in-line 4 cyl engine will produce about the same performance numbers as the 5.3 V8. From what I am reading the truck will be about 350 lbs. lighter which will help performance. Read this engine will run on only 2 cylinders when coasting downhill.

The new high strength steel frame will make this truck feel rock solid. I do not fully understand the new metals other than stiffer, thinner and lighter which is a good thing. I know that metal history went from a strength 35,000psi to 50,000psi to now 70,000psi strength.

In the next 6 to 18 months a lot of new improved trucks will be available.

Ford - new 2020 F-150, F-250, F350
Ram - new 2020 2500, 3500
Chevy - new 2019 1500, new 2020 2500, 3500.

I thought 2011 was a great year for trucks. 2020 will maybe be even better.

In 2005 I test drove a lot of the trucks. None met my expectations as the engines were weak for the big heavy trucks, the trucks were noisy with a lot of engine noise coming into the cabin. Noise without acceleration is the way I would describe it.

I test drove a lot of trucks again in 2011 and immediately felt the improvements. Some engines felt peppy. All were comfortable. I bought a 2011 F-150 5.0 liter and then a 2012 F-450.

I just got done a month ago test driving the trucks. I liked every truck I test drove. Powerful, quiet, comfortable. I bought a 2017 F-250 gasser. I can they the frame is better than on my 2012 F-450.

Now in 2019/2020 model year not sure how much they can improve. I read a rumor of Cummins 1,000 ft. lbs. torque. Just rumors. Also new gas engines are rumored at 7.0 litre direct injected.

Good for all of us pulling a trailer.

I've also read that the new Ram Cummins will not have a DPF and the emissions will be similar to what Europe does. Again rumors, but from a very reliable source.
My only concern is FCA seems to run out of money when needing to upgrade their truck lineup. I think the 2500-3500 were already due for an upgrade and it's been delayed till 2020.

FCA did a fantastic job on the 2019 Ram 1500 if they can just get the production ramped up. I did read FCA is having trouble with the E-Torque system that is why that option, standard on the 3.6 has not hit the dealerships yet.

I am hoping Chevy can hit the ground running with their production goals.

I was not following half ton trucks in 2014/2015. Did Ford have trouble ramping up the 2015 model year trucks?

If the new Ram 2500/3500 has a better emission system that will be great. I imagine the frame will be switched from boxed mild steel to boxed high strength steel to save weight as well as increase frame twisting resistance.

The Chevy 2500/3500 frame is massive since 2011. It to will benefit switching from boxed mild steel to boxed high streath steel. I also hope the 6.2 gasser replaces the 6.0 gasser. If Ford and Ram have powerful 7.0 liter gas engine Chevy will be left behind again in the gas engine department.
