2021 GMC 3500 diesel dually, aluminum wheels and steel wheels

I have a 2021 GMC Denali dually. I知 going to Alaska this summer. My question is I have aluminum wheels outside and front wheels. I have a spare that is steel rim. Do I need to buy 1 more aluminum rim or maybe go with all steel rims. I plan on buying 1 more tire because you never know. I guess the cheapest way would be to put another tire on the aluminum rims. Any help would be appreciated

Steel is all you need for a spare.

As a spare the steel wheels can be fitted in place of the aluminum. I drove the Alska Highway back in 1992 when it wasn't fully paved. Did the Haul Road to Prudhoe Bay. Do you really think you need 2 spares? Are you pulling a trailer? Extra spares for that?

My dually has the same deal with the aluminum wheels, I have steels for spares. More important is when was the last time all of the wheels have been off of the truck? My dually it took a lot of work in my shop when I first bought it just to get the wheels off.

My GMC 2021 had 75,000 miles and I replaced all the tires. I have put 15,000 miles since then. I pulled my Cedar Creek to Alaska in 2017 and didn稚 have any problems with the tires. Almost had a problem with the truck but that worked out by itself. I知 going to carry a good plugging kit and just in case I値l carry a new tire for the truck and an old tire for the camper, no rims on the tires. I don稚 have the best of luck

AlCan is mostly paved these days, HOWEVER, there are spots, and can be frost heaves that will rob tire lives. Last bud of mine to challenge the road took FOUR Spare Tires, One installed on a wheel besides the OEM Spare, his trailer had two axles and FOUR Spares. He had the misfortune long ago of losing two tires then the spare on some bad stretches, took almost two weeks to get a set of tires shipped IN to where he was at Whitehorse.

We went in 2017 pulling my Cedar Creek fifth wheel and we never had any problems with the tires. I had a SRW then and now I have a DRW. I知 not expecting any tire trouble but you never know. The tires on my Creek and truck are only a year old. I have Sailun tires on the camper and they will actually carry more weight than the G614 I had in 17. I was just thinking about the dually tires that had aluminum rims outside and steel rims inside. I may carry an extra tire with no rim for the truck. I run slow and the roads are in really great shape now. I drove from Alaska to North Carolina in 1973 with no tire problems, had a chipped windshield. I run with TPMS all around
