Good call.

While it's not specific to 2022 GMC's, I have to get out and look at the badge to tell whether I'm driving my 2500 or one of my 3500SRW's; literally can't tell the difference driving them.

a 15,000 lb 5th wheel will put just about every 1 ton single rear wheel diesel truck over the rear axle rating regardless of the brand . I am not saying it cant be done but you really need to know your rear axle weights and monitor it very close every trip. Duel wheel truck is much more stable and you will notice that!

I pulled our Redwood with a GMC 3500 SRW for a few years , in 2020 I bought a duel wheel truck as my daily driver. Other then the mall parking lots I have no reason to even consider getting a truck with single wheels while I pull this trailer.

The ride difference between the three vehicles 2500, 3500 SRW and 3500 DRW is minimal. You want a TV that after driving 300 miles in rain and wind you arrive at your destination relaxed, not all tensed up because your package was being pushed around by the weather!

Driving 300 miles in rain or snow is never a relaxing experience especially when surrounded by amateurs . Chewing gum and easing your grip on the wheel helps . 3 million miles of every type of weather imaginable . I don’t care what you are driving when you pull a mobile wall behind you the wind can definitely move it when roads are slick .

I feel this statement is a little misleading when applied to the latest models of 1 ton SRW trucks. Older models yes, 2020 and newer not so much. A 15,000 trailer will have a pin weight of about 3,000 to 3,200#. My option loaded LTZ 3500 4x4 CC Z71 short bed SRW Duramax has a useful load rating of near 4,000 per the door sticker. That leaves 800 or so for passengers, a case of beer and Herbie the wonder dog. If we are talking rear axle, it is rated at 7500 with the optional 20" tires. The rear end of mine with me, fuel and hitch weighs 3500 per the port of entry scales in Monticello, Ut. Add 7# for the wonder dog and an undisclosed number for the wife and I am still under.

Were I planning to pull full time, I would certainly consider dealing with the inconveniences of a DRW, but for most weekend warriors a late model SRW 3500 is sufficient for 15,000.

Agree with this. Fully loaded for a month long trip the weight on my rear axle is 6700 pounds. The rear axle rating for my truck is 7230. Our Pinnacle is rated at 15,500 GVWR. My total hitch weight is 3120 and my truck's payload capacity is 4054. I get a very stable and comfortable ride from this set up. My past 2 trucks were duals and while great for towing I just didn't like having to use them for my daily driver.

I think the SRW 350/3500 series trucks long bed will have around 4,000lbs of payload. I just want to add, if you don't already have the truck I think Ford improved in 2017, Ram in 2019 and GM in 2020. You will be best served with a truck with an 8' bed.
