There is a possiblity of the 2022 Toyota Tundra leap frogging Ford, GM, Ram. We will have to wait and see.
The thing I am interested in is the wheelbase. I am hoping for a 153" wheelbase for the crew cab. That, and power. I read the Tundra will have a turbo 3.5 litre engine just like Ford. I wish it would be 3.6L or 3.4L turbo engine but 3.5L is exacly like the Ford...ugh.

I'm interested in seeing what type of hybrid drive train it will have. Is it like the F-150 Hybrid that uses a motor/generator built into the transmission housing, or is it some kind of adaptation of the Prius hybrid system. I'm guessing it's more like the F-150 with its mostly conventional drive train, but with Toyota you never know. They are after all the main pioneers of automotive hybrid technology.

I know Toyota makes the Prius and last year they put a Corolla body with the Pruis hybrid system.
Just my guess, since Toyota uses the same hybrid system on the Camry I am guessing it will be similar to the Prius.
But again - we will need to wait and see. It should not be much longer.

Ironically, the Ford hybrid system was originally the Toyota 1st Generation hybrid system as they purchased it from Toyota to make their first hybrid years ago.

I think you're referring to the Prius system that is used in the Ford Escape and other compact cars. The F-150 Hybrid uses a different system. Basically, the F-150 has a standard drive train with an added 35KW electric motor built into the transmission housing and connected to a 1.5 KWH battery.
What will the Tundra use? I don't think they revealed it yet. I'm guessing it's similar to the Lexus hybrid system. It should be pretty powerful with good gas mileage. Will it have the standby generator capability of the F-150? Good question. I think this is a valuable feature for RVing.

Rumor has it that the 2022 Toyota Tundra Hybrid will attain 30 MPG. Quite an achievement for a full sized pickup, if true, and significantly better than an F-150.

The big three already easily achieve over 30 MPG with there 3.0 Diesels in there full size trucks. Toyota has to do something. There trucks are known to be underpowered and Thirsty..

Wheelbase will be one thing I want to know. The power plant efficiency will be 2nd. I am not sure if I would trust a Japanese turbo like I trust the Ford turbo. I will need to wait and see.
Any idea when it will be released? There are less than 6 months left in 2021.

This will be the first major update of the Tundra since 2007. They are going to have to make a big splash. AWD? Independent rear suspension? It goes without saying that it's going to have to have power, torque, payload and towing specs as good or better than a RAM, F-150 or GMC.

I've had 2 tundras. One got wrecked and my son still drives my 2008 with 130K + miles. I wanted a 3/4 ton for my new TV so the Tundras were not in the running. Loved those trucks

I am no so in love with the Tundra. When I looked at them in 2011 the truck was not as refined as the F-150. The frame is suspect with more flex than Ford. Oh, my 5.0litre F-150 would get 20mpg highway. No Tundra will do that.
