*** Shows the axles now surpass standard LT 'E' tire capacity.

I do not know about the Rams, but know they can not carry the weight of a Ford or now the new GM trucks.

Here is a picture from the 2018 Ford Brochure.

Well the axles have never been the "WEAK LINK" it is always the tires. Now days seems all 2500/250's and 3500/350's use full floating rear axle which the axle manufacture rates at 10,000#+.

To cover the rear axle rating of 7,280# the tires need a minimum rating of 3,640#. I haven't looked at 18" or 20" tires, but I am sure some are rated for that weight, they have to be to have the axle rated for 7,280#.

My old 2001 Ram 2500 with Camper package, had optional 265/75-16E's rated at 3,415#, but the VIN sticker only had the standard 246/75-16E's rated at 3,042# and an axle rating of 6,084#.

I am towing a 1234 Spartan toyhauler with a GVW of 18k, I know if Im fully loaded im illegal, I think my truck is rated for 15,400 fifth wheel, but the truck pulls it with no issues and I have 3;55s I do have a tuner and no delete, but hp was never a problem when stock, was just trying to get a little better mileage. So yesterday I looked at several trucks, first was a 19 450 limited with 7k for 76K (wow) it was a awesome truck, I couldnt believe the ride, we have 450s and 550s at work and I cringe when I get in one because they ride so bad when unloaded. Next was a 18 450 King ranch and I dont know why, but it didnt ride as nice as the limited, it was ok, but at 70k it needs to ride better lol. Next was a 19 350 srw limited which was awesome and will legally haul 20k fifth wheel, so I made a deal with them and need to finish some paperwork this week before the deal is done. Well today before we left Lancaster with the camper we went back to the dealership because there was a 18 350 drw king ranch 12k miles for 66k the limited is 65k with 22k on it. I dont want to make a mistake and be sorry I didnt buy the drw another factor is I will be swapping my plow from my 15 to whatever I get, I only plow my house and family, not commercially. I guess my question is, has anyone wish they went with a dually after they bought a srw? I like the look of the dually, but dont think I need it, I have only ever towed all my fifth wheels with srw trucks and have never had a issue, plowing would be easier with a srw, I believe the dually has 3:73s and I know the limited has 3;55s, but I only notice it when I get in the mountains, but its not bad. Any input from someone who has been in my situation would be greatly appreciated. I mean if the price wasnt a issue I would have left yesterday with the 450 limited lol PS the truck sits in my driveway all week, I only use it when we go camping, most trips are with in 200 miles of home and 1 time a year to FLA and back so we are not full time yet, maybe in about 10 years we will be.
Frank, I hare to say it but you have violated the number one rule of RV/truck forums. Never never ever ever start a thread asking about weight or towing capacity. You will have your new truck in for the 100,000 mile service and we will still be responding to this thread. Just get what you like and enjoy yourself.

I posted a question on a YouTube post on the 2020 Ford's The person at the dealership answered with the 2020 Ford's will have the best payload. Not sure how true that is with the 2020 GM trucks.

Just a few days ago I looked at the Ram 6.4 gas 2500 trucks.

Ford still rules payload by a tiny bit:

My 2017 F-250 6.2 gas - 3,497 lbs.
2020 GM 2500 6.6 gas - 3,425 lbs.
2020 Ram 2500 6.4 gas - 3,300 lbs.
2020 Ram 2500 mega cab 6.4 gas - 2,800 lbs.
This thread is about worn out but the Ford salesman is kind of right. I compared the GM and Ford one tons.

GM 3500 crew cab, short bed, diesel, single rear wheel = 12,100 GVWR
GM 3500 crew cab long bed, diesel, srw = 12,250 GVWR
Ford F350 crew cab, long bed, srw, diesel, 20 inch wheels = 12,400 GVWR
Ford F350 crew cab, short bed, diesel, srw = 11,500 GVWR

Only very specific models of Fords will have the higher ratings. The F350 with the 12,400 GVWR will have a max payload of 4580. I figure a loaded model will lose about 500 pounds so around 4000 or so. Not bad but not across the board. One truck so they can say they have the highest. The 20 inch wheels are required because the load range E tires will have a 3570 load capacity.

Frank, You said Lancaster is that PA?
I had a 14 Ram MegaCab 3500 SRW with an autoslider and when I got my new Open range 3X 388RKS the truck would lean when making a sharp turn. I upgraded to a 3500 DRW Ram.

Are you aware of the new PA regulations regarding a Non Commercial Class A Drivers License.
The short version is if your truck has a GCWR over 26,001 Lbs (mine is 33,800) and the trailer is over 10,000 Lbs you need a NC Class A license.

A friend of mine got a F450 4x4 crew cab LB DRW before we went on an RV tour through Canada and Alaska this summer.

I have a 18 Ram 3500 4x4 crew cab LB DRW and his GCWR was just over my GCWR by a 100 Lbs or so, that should answer most of your question.
