I only tow my fifth wheel about 5 weeks a year. I use my Ram 3500 CCSB SRW truck for work, play and everything else. I love it! The only time the ride is rough is coming out of a driveway or something with some type of rumble strip.
I reduce the air in my rear tires from 80 psi to 50 psi and let the air down to 15 psi in my rear air bags when not towing.

Rides like a dream in my books. I have a ---- eating grin on my face everytime I drive it!

I might also add that my previous truck, was an F150 Platinum Eco 4x4. I traded it for my new truck. My Ram 3500 gets better fuel mileage and diesel is cheaper to boot.

I started driving a 3500 dually as daily driver in Feb. 2000. Before that it was always at least a 3/4 ton daily.

As full-timers, our RAM 3500 dually is our daily driver. Is it a pain sometimes? Yes. But I can parallel park it anywhere you can your SRW 3500...

If we go the 5th wheel route I want to stay under 15K GVWR on the trailer. The 2500, with the Cummins won't handle that legally plus the cost difference compared to a like equipped 3500 is basically nothing.

Seems to me there isn't a real good reason to go with a dually or the ASIN transmission since that's just going to boost the cost significantly. Comments?

I see it has the Cummins so as a daily driver how is the mileage? Also, what transmission did you get and what was the rear end ratio selected?

2014 3500 srw here. My th is 15500-16500 (depending if rzr is in back) ready to camp. Pin weight is 3050-3300 (rzr depend). I'm at max limits on gvwr, cgvwr, and axle limit. I wouldn't want to be any heavier without a dually. I added timbrens to reduce the squat and with hitch adjustments am about 1-2 inches nose high

58k in 2.3 years so she is broken in good. All srw' have the 3.42 rear end (wish I could of got 3.73). Hwy running is between 20-23, city 17 or so. Towing always seems to come out right around 10 (through mountains and back). Haven't had any issues aside from a few recalls and I did have a def injector go out (warranty). The 2500 has a completely different rear suspension and I would suspect would ride smoother than mine which can be stiff on rough roads. Also wish I would have ordered the aisin as it gets another 100ft lbs torque and I have towed 12k miles in last 17 months

It's in my signature but mine has the 68RFE and 3:42's.
The area I travel has almost no flat ground except inner city and even then not much. So, my mpg wouldn't be a true amount for most.

Truck alone city 13 mpg.
Truck alone hwy and city I average 16 mpg.
Truck alone on hwy flats I average 26 mpg.
Towing hwy through mountains I average 11-12 mpg.

We bought a 2012 Sierra 3500 CC LB 4X4 DRW last weekend that will be my daily driver after VW buys back the Jetta in November. The ride is pretty nice unless you hit a big bump; not much different than the 95 Silverado 1500 EC SB 4x4 we traded up from which wasn't horrible. It does seem better than dad's 2002 F350 CC SB DRW and the 2012 F350 CC LB 4X4 SRW that we test drove.

I use my 2016 RAM 3500 SRW 4door Long bed as my daily driver. I am a travel nurse and move our fulltime home / fifth wheel 4 times per year. I don't have any issues with it as a daily driver and actually love it. Getting about 22mpg combined and 25mpg highway since deleting and chipping it with a RaceME Ultra. We actually drive it more places as a family because I get better mileage than my wife's SUV.

AS noted, our crewcab DRW is or only vehicle and it goes everywhere. The biggest problem is the long wheel base and not the wide fenders. The wheelcut on the F350 is not all that great and the turning radius is the problem. It taks some see-sawing in tight spots.

I drive my 2014 Ram 3500 DRW crew cab with 8' bed daily. I rarely pull nose first into stalls in a parking lot, as it's always easier to back in. I can pretty much put it anywhere I want, but I tend to park farther out to make it easier.

As for mileage, I get around 16-17 mpg empty, with a bone stock truck. Towing our Montana HC 340BH (approx. 14k pounds) I average about 11-12 mpg.

My only major complaint is the truck is too wide for a drive through automatic car wash. I like a clean truck, and the DRW bed collects road spray and complicates that.

No, it's not the same engine that had all the issues in semis.

Yup - $5.00 for the drive through wash, $35.00 for the custom hand wash cause will not fit the tunnel.

I hate when I tell people my mileage on my truck. I live in hills and mountains and don't get what I deserve out of the truck compared to some.

I'm not unhappy about it. It just makes my truck look like like it gets poor mileage. On flats, when recorded and unloaded, I get almost 26 mpg.
Just not enough flats.
