Nice - seems like we have never been able to miss crappy weather when heading south for the winter or returning in the spring.

Only time I ever use 4x4 in the tow vehicle is if I can't do what I need to in 2wd. Usually a wet, uphill grass site can be an issue. My F350 has a limited slip diff in the rear that helps a lot at low speeds.

I had to use 4x4 to get into our current spot. Very glad I had it.

Yea pretty stupid on our part. We were heading from SoCal to RapidCity SD to get our SD domicile. Actually did a little slip and slide across a bridge that was on a corner! Had the 4wd going for many miles.

It couldn't have been too bad if you felt safe enough to take a photo from the driver's seat!

Our issue was with the tires we bought with the truck. Assuming our miles would be in summer conditions we ordered the rib tires for better mileage and quieter ride. Worked really good for that.
Unfortunately as soon as there was a flake of snow we could get stuck. Or if the road was icy and we were in two wheel drive the torque could lite the tires up going up small hills. So majority of time was in 4 wheel drive when any sign of ice or snow.
Still have the tires on the truck but it is only used in the summer time.

If anything like me would have been in 4 wheel drive and going about 25 - 30. Still no picture taking for me.

What tires do you run? I'm curious about the lack of snow/ice traction I'll have with my Continental HSR tires.

I am not exactly sure. They are Continental but the truck is 1800 miles away so could not tell you the model.
