I have a F250 Supercab 2x4 with the 6 3/4' bed. I'm using a B&W Patriot 16K hitch with in bed rails mounted on Curt under bed frame mounts.

My problem is not with the hitch. The limitation on such a truck is having enough kingpin weight carrying capability. Many of the full size fifth wheel trailers and toyhaulers weigh 14K+ lbs. and have pin weights of 3K+, or more than a single rear wheel truck's capabilities.

I purchased my 2 year old Grand Design Reflection fifth wheel to match my truck. It has a 2K lb. dry kingpin weight and the trailer weighs 11K lbs. total. But I'm still I'm max'd out after putting personal belongings in the trailer.

As far as turning and backing the trailer, I'm good for 88 degrees before making contact, and I've never even got close to hurting my truck. If you're careful and you have a short bed truck, a slider is not required for most owners.
